Surname Tudiškov

For the Tudiskov family from Brbinj below, I will present some information from the Glagolitic registers of the parish of Brbinj. These data were not enough for me to draw certain conclusions about this genus with certainty.

I think that this is one of the rare Brbinje clans, probably along with the Maršan, Barićević, Vlahov and Mikljanjev families, which completely died out, that is, their lineage was not continued through "mulci" (adopted children), the arrival of man from other families on their estate and taking a surname or by continuing their lineage in such a way that they went to estate to another family and that their lineage continued that way. This is an old Brbinje family that was probably recorded in 1608, when Zadar's Duke Oktavijan Mocenigo had a population census of the Zadar islands made, so the family Thodeschovich (Todešković) was recorded in Brbinj.[1]. Today, the memory of this surname has completely disappeared in Brbinj.

In the death register we have the deaths of Anton Tudiško in 1662, Ursa Tudiško, wife of Ivan in the same year 1662, the death of Eivan (Ivan) Tudiško in 1668 and the death of Šime Tudiško in 1705.

In the lists of souls of Brbinj parish in 1658, we have Ejvan Tudiško entered between Anton Oblak and Visko Cvitulić (Cvitulić are Longin), Anton Tudiško entered between Šime Mrakalić (Mrakalić are Peričin) and Mate Brunac, and Ursa and Kata Tudiško entered between Klara Oblak and Manda Cvitulić. At the end of the list of the state of souls, Ive Tudiško was entered, I assume that at the end of the list of the state of souls, the younger inhabitants of Brbinj were entered, regardless of the position of the house from which they came.[2]

In the lists of souls of Brbinj parish in 1659, we have Ivan Tudiško entered between Ivan Oblak and Visko Cvitulić (Cvitulići are Longin), Anton Tudiško entered between Šime Mrakalić (Mrakalić are Peričin) and Mate Špan, and Ursa and Kata Tudiško entered between Klara Oblak and Manda Cvitulić.[3]

  1. in 1661. Eivan, Anton and Eivan Tudiško were registered, again between Oblak and Cvitulić (the Cvitulić are Longin), more precisely between Marko Oblak and Visko Cvitulić. Between Ela Oblakova and Mara Cvitulić, Ursa Tudiškova and E Tudiškova were registered.[4] Temeljem mjesta upisa Tudiškovih u popisima stanja duša župe Brbinj sredinom 17. stoljeća pretpostavio sam da se kuća Tudiškovih u Brbinju nalazila između Oblakovih i Longinovih.

In the lists of the state of souls of Brbinj parish until 1678, when the priests in Brbinj stopped making a list of the inhabitants of Brbinj by name and listed only the total number of inhabitants, the Tudiskov family, both men and women are entered between the Oblak and Cvitulić families (in the lists of the states of souls, men are listed first , then women and usually the total number of small children). Anton Tudiško died in 1662, and Ivan Tudiško in 1668. From 1671 to 1676, only Ive Tudiškov and Ela Tudiškova are mentioned in the lists of the state of souls, and in 1676 and 1677, when the name lists of residents stop, Ive Tudiškov and Ele and Luca Tudiškova are mentioned. Until 1695, the priests stated only the total number of residents of Brbinj, and in 1696 they again began to list the adults of Brbinj by name.

In that period, we have information about the Tudiškov family in the marriage records, so in 1664 the marriage of Eivan, son of Anton Tudeško, and Ela, daughter of Anton Barićević, was registered, in the same year Katarina, daughter of Ivan Tudiško, married Ivan Vidošić, in 1677, Ursa, daughter of Ive Tudiška, married Matija Cvitulić, in 1690 Šimun son of Ivan Tudiško married Mara Carić, and in 1692 Šime Tudiško married Mara Rančić[5].

In the inventory of souls of Brbinj parish from 1696, when it is again kept by name, no Tudiškov family members are mentioned, but in the inventory of souls of Brbinj parish from 1697, Šime Tudižkov and Mara Tudiškova are listed between Matučić (the Matučić are Kamilov) and Kaleb. In 1698, Šime Raduli and Mara Radulića were listed in that place of registration[6], in 1699, between Matučić and Odvitović, Šime Tudiško and Mara Radulić were registered, 1700, Šime Tudiško and Mara Jurinov, 1701, Šime Radulić and Mara Radulić, 1702, no Šime Radulić, Tudiško or Jurinov registered, but only Mara Radulić, 1703. Šime Tudiskov and Mara Tudiskova. After 1705, there is no more Šime Tudiško or Šime Radulić or Jurinov, which agrees with the fact that the death of Šime Tudiško was entered in the death register in 1705.

From these data, I can only indicate the assumption that the Tudiškov family probably lived between the Oblak and the Cvitulić families, that is, the Longins, that in the period between 1678 and 1696, Šime Tudiškov came to the estate in Radulić family, who were later called the Jurinov, that is, the Tudisko took the surname Jurinov. That the Tudiškov were Jurinov can be seen in the example of Matija Jurinov, who died in 1727 at the age of 29. His birth was recorded in 1699 to his parents Šime and Mara Tudiško. The Jurinov will also die out.

[6] In the lists of the state of souls until 1678 at that place of entry, between the Matučić and the Bahajev or the Kaleb families, the Radulić family members were entered, namely Anton Radulić and Mara Radulić, and in 1676 and 1677, before the end of the list of inhabitants by name, Anton and Mara Radulić were listed and Jure Radulić and Marko Radulić
